Doctor G Movie Story
Anubhuti Kashyap’s Doctor G opens with a Kabir Singh joke. Uday (Ayushmann Khurrana) tells his friend Chaddi (Abhay Mishra) that he’s a liberal man — a simple man — that he isn’t possessive like Shahid Kapoor’s character.
It doesn’t bother him that his girlfriend spends a lot of time with her male friend. But gradually, it unfolds as a dual joke: that Uday is anything but liberal (he’s insecure and petty.
Here is mention of the dialogue of the movie Maine Pyar Kiya : Ek Ladaka aur ladaki kabhi dost nahi ho sakate . In the end, the movie shows it otherwise. The hero and heroine of the movie end up being the buddy.
The story is straight that an aspiring doctor who wants to be an ortho ends up in gynae department. The only male student in the department, he feels insecure, unwanted, and out of place. Gradually, he loses his male touch and begins to like his work.
There is another perspective to the story. His single mom is alone and is learning about social media and yearns for friendship and a bit of life. She has been judged by her own son for her actions but in due course, the son accepted his mom’s happiness. The movie gracefully presents that even the single mom has her own life apart from her kids and has the right to be happy.
Yet another side of the story is the friendship between a man and a woman. Even if they kiss, it doesn’t mean that they are in a relationship. The director explains this so so well. The teenage pregnancy, how a school-going girl falls into the trap of a doctor who values respect more than life, the hypocrisy of society is shown.
The music does not add much value to the feel of the film. Some bits and tracks are nice, but the songs do not have a very huge role but are pleasing.
The movie has a unique concept and there’s no taking that away. The second half of Doctor G is a plus for the movie, but it does get a slow start. The movie is a pleasure to watch for the one who likes sensible cinema.
This is the directorial debut of Anubhuti. She expresses her delight at being able to showcase her film without major changes. Anubhuti said in a press statement, “Amidst all the action, thriller, and fantasy-led movies that have been released recently,
Doctor G is a fun comedy-drama that is clutter-breaking and will be a refreshing watch for the audience.” She added, “The trailer has been received so well and that is just a glimpse of the comedy and entertainment that’s in store during the film. I am glad the audience will get to watch the film in its entirety that will stay with them for a long time”
CEO Junglee Pictures, Amrita Pandey, added, “The movie is bold, high on entertainment yet subtly breaks stereotypes as one might expect from a true Ayushmann Khurrana film.
Despite not having any explicit content, it is a movie for young adults who are exposed to bold yet sensitive and hilarious content and can of course watch it with their families. We are happy there were no cuts suggested and we are able to present the film as is in the theatres, also being under 2 hours, Doctor G will have a refreshing and engaging appeal”

Doctor G Movie Review
Doctor G, the Bollywood release starring Ayushmann Khurrana as a male gynecologist who just happened to be there in this department. Sounds interesting! Right, the movie has been made with love and care, touching different sensitive topics of our society.
Written by Sumit Saxena, Saurabh Bharat, Vishal Wagh, and Anubhuti, the film is the story of doctors and their place in society. An aspiring orthopedic surgeon Ayushmaan who does not score well to be an ortho ends up as a gynecologist.
He keeps the seat as a backup plan. Ayushmann plays the doctor, while Shefali plays his teacher. Sheeba Chaddha plays the role of his mom in the film. Rakul Preet Singh is playing a gynae who is engaged to some guy and is friends with Ayushmaan.
The storyline is simple but the treatment is unique. Shefali as the HOD has done her part really well. She can emote with her eyes and body language as well. The presence, she has on-screen is unmatchable. Rakul is good and nice.
She as Dr. Fatima has her moments. She has done justice to her limited role. No matter what the role and the setup, Ayushmann manages to suit his part like a hand in a glove. He plays Dr. Uday in the film meticulously. The set up of the movie is based in Bhopal, and therefore the actor has the accent but it is in no way overdone.
Sheeba Chaddha, the veteran actor is playing Ayushmaan’s mom with such ease and expertise. She has done her part as expected. She has played her character so well that you will fall in love with the character. She has done a fantastic performance. And so does, Shefali as HOD. She is remarkable.
All and all a good watch. The story is about the struggle that a male gynecologist has to face in the medical profession. The director managed to show the “Male touch “ in the movie. The journey, that Ayushmaan goes through in the film is a treat to watch.
The movie touches few other social messages as well like underage pregnancy, the situation in a government hospital, the single mom pressures, and the need for her to have friends and be happy. And , one more “ Ek Ladaka aur ladaki dost ho sakate hai “.
This one is a solid prescription for entertainment
